Deepest Condolences

My Deepest Condolences
to the family of the late L.K. SIN

Finally 19 years old LK passed away peacefully yesterday after struggling a week to live... I know it has been hard times for his family and the love one's. I got to know from Jason. My condolence to LK's family,Gigi and friends. I am really sorry to hear that. I know LK will rest in peace in heaven. Cortege leaves from residence on 8th October 2008 morning for cremation at Xiao En at Cheras. Located alongside the Taman Midah Old Town.

Lots of flashbacks. He had yet to achieve what he wanted to. Now I understand why people always tell me, live as if, today is the last day for you, so you will never have regret. Life is just unpredictable, so fragile, so short! Blessing, I am Alive!. There are lots of things, I must do! I will make it!

The Brave New World.

Act 1: A hungry dog is loitering on the beach near a fishing village when suddenly one of its hind legs gets caught in driftwood. As the dog struggles to free its leg, a boy passes by.

Scene 1: The dog plead to the boy "Can you please help release my hind from the driftwood?" The boy replies "Why should I? You have been stealing a lot of fish from the villages lately." Dog: Please, the driftwood is hurting my leg. If you help me, I will not steal again. Don't you know that the dog is man's best friend?"

Scene 2: The boy pauses to think and finally decides to help. "All right then, I will take your word for it. Stay still while I help you, so you will not feel much pain."

Act 2: The boy moves closer to the dog and bends down to slowly remove the driftwood that has trapped the dog's hind leg. As soon as the dog is free, it bites the dog. An argument ensues.

Scene 1: Boy: Hey, why did you bite me? Dog: Didn't you know that this is how good turns are rewarded nowadays? Boy: What an ungrateful creature you are, after what I have done for you! Dog: You must be out of this world! Can't you see what has happened to the fish net hanging on the tree (pointing to a tree behind the boy). That net serves the villagers well for years and everyone used it. Today it has been left hanging on the tree, rain or shine, because it is torn in some places. Nobody cares any more!

Act 3: By now the argument is taking place in full view of the village. A duck and a frog are listening intently.

Scene 1: Duck: Yes! The dog is right. At one time, I used to have a long trail of ducks following me wherever I went, and other animals too. Now that I am lame, most of them have dissapeared. If you don't believe me, ask the frog. Frog: The duck is right. It happened to me too. No one cares for me now. The younger frogs are more interested in promoting their own hoping skills. Duck: In today's world, you are only good if someone can benefit from you. Beyond that, no one bothers. Did you get that, boy!

Act 4: The boy is still unconvinced and demands to hear views of the human being. An elderly fishermen joins the crowd just then.

Scene 1: The boy asks the fisherman: "Can you tell me your experiences in helping others? "Fisherman: Boy, it is a long story. I am afraid the animals are right!

He relates how not too long ago, he was held in high esteem as the leader of the village. He urged everyone to work with him instead for him. Almost everyone threw their support behind him- The business community, the youth, the general workers, and labourers. But "please look beneath the surface as well. This is where the crux of the matter lies. Unless you understand this, the rest can be deceiving, and artificial. The true test will be when you face a severe crisis".

He continues, it is like a tsunami which brngs out everyone's true colours. When the sea becomes turbulent, no one wants to share his boat with anyone. Unlike before, few understand what it means to sail in uncharted waters, what sacrifice means. This was not how it was when the boat was smaller. In fact to accomodate a bigger crew, a larger vessel was created, assuming a bigger vessel was more safer and stable. After all many of the new crew are from small boats that could not withstand even the smallest of storms. Unfortunately, their presence seems good only when sea is calm and non-threatening. The moment it turns rough, some quickly jump ship.

Self-interest and showmanship rear their ugly heads. Friends suddenly become enermies. Their failure suddenly become yours and yours alone. They talk of reform, not of themselves but of others. Hyprocrisy is at its peak. Some even set to lead a mutiny!

To the elderly fisherman, however this is nothing new, as the old proverb" Seperti melepaskan anjing tersepit" clearly indicates. Welcome to today's new reality- The Brave World of Dog Eat Dog!

Please note that the story is strictly fictitious. No one dead or alive is implied or implicated in this story. It just reflects the true colours of current world. Is there really no cure for this? No more good people?

There is!!! Love & Sincere to help.. It was because there are cocks who stired shit around. A good people, sincere people, would never say things , for the sake to please you and just to make you feel confortable in listening to it. Are we ready to accept and weight criticism? What kind of people are we? We know better ourselves! Let's together hand in hand change this fact and make ourselves to be a better person. Cheers

Today is the 1st day in Singapore. Upon reaching, immediately rush to EGA office. Well I am here for few reasons: one is for the Philosophy of Success course, and meeting up the main HQ of Anything & Whatever also to meet up with Sanriotown- Hello Kitty Outlet.
In the office, there is kind of awkward feeling.. how to put it in words... feeling like a stray ghost floating around "Ku Wan Yeh Kwai" .. Met Jonathan and spoke a few words with him before Q-ing up to the room for pre-briefing. Upon entering the room, it was pretty silence. There are group of people known as "ling tao"- Cadre standing behind, a guy in the centre, all looked so serious, not even a smile. Reminds me of Joker - Why So Serious? Let's put a smile on the face...

Then Mr. Jackie out to gave the pre-briefing for the philosophy of success course which i will be attending tomorrow. -.- Am I here for the Singapore National Service? Army Training? After a short briefing, headed down to have our dinner before back. For a change, we stayed at the Backpackers- Welcome Inn.. Interesting huh.. Better than the hotel i stayed previously in terms of price, services, condition, cleanliness, etc etc...
Double Decker Bed
Well.. Time to bed.. Wondering what will it be for tomorrow? A day to watch tomorrow!

No profession has been the source of humour as much as the legal profession, yielding such gems as: A lawyer is driving down the highway in his BMW, "I love my BMW." Focusing on his car and not his driving, he smashed into a tree. he miraculously survives, but his car is total wreck. "My BMW! My BMW!" he sobs. A good man drives by and cries out, "Sir, sir, you're bleeding! And my God, your left arm is gone!" Horrified, the lawyer screams. "My Rolex! My Rolex!"

Funny though the joke is, it represents the stereotypical views of lawyers that they are money minded, which the legal fraternity can't quite shake off. But while it is human nature to typecast, there are many lawyers in our midst who are nothing like the jokes they inspire- they fight for justice, they are kind and they often do work for free.

The busy life of a lawyer generally means formal wear all the time, and if a session in court is part of their day, it mean a monochrome wardrobe of black and white. Perfecto!!

In the past, our judiciary has been making the headlines for many reasons, not all of which have been favourable. But there is plenty to rejoice about because lawyers are increasingly being seen as upholding an age-old tradition that today is at risk of being abused and misused. The younger generations of lawyers are passionate and commited to their work and to the plight of people who are denied basic human rights as a result of a misinterpretation of the law. Although there young lawyers are seen as rebels, as constantly challenging the status quo and defying the authorities, the fact is that they are more patriotic than most of us.

Walk for Justice

For me, there were no shades of grey it's either black or white. My notion of right and wrong and justice had a big influence on me which ultimately led to my decision to take up law. "At the end of my education, I realised it was something I wanted to do because I thought it was the best way for me to do work for people. It wasn't money thing for me- it's never been. NAIVE!! My idealistic ambitions were dealt a blow when I have choosed another route where till today I am still unsure of the future. This left me disillusioned with the law. Thinking of the process- the preparation, going up and questioning people, standing up and cross examining, getting involved with the judiciary and magistrate and submitting the points of law and backing argument." Miss the rush acting for your client no matter what saved him/her from the gallows! Plans of joining NGO called Voice of the Children, the Bar Council Legal Aid, seems to be fading off. I am still disorganised. Respond to evil and cruelty, that's about it. And standing up to that, I am willing to risk a great deal. Not out of bravery, but rather I 'm impelled to do it. I cannot not do something about it. I just hope I will be digesting, growing and raising my industry profile. It just like the car of your dreams, comes with a once in a life time experience.
